Schools Shut After Delhi Records 5.8 Degrees Temperature and Cold Wave In UP, Haryana


A cold wave has gripped northern parts of India with Delhi temperature recorded as 5.8 degrees Celsius, settling two notches below normal, a weather official said. the utmost temperature will hover around 17 degrees Celsius, the official added. Over 25 trains were running late by 2-6.5 hours thanks to shallow fog in various parts, a railway official was quoted as saying by press agency Press Trust of India. The humidity level was recorded at 97 per cent and therefore the air quality was in “very poor” category (331) on Thursday morning.

Due to intense wave, many faculties in Uttar Pradesh will remain closedthe approaching days. In Sitapur, the faculties will remain closed till December 28. In Bulandshahr, and Baghpat, the facultiesare going to be shut till December 27. In Ghaziabad, all government and personal schools up to class 12 are closed for subsequent two days thanks to the severe wavewithin the region. The schools were ordered to be shut per an order issued by Ghaziabad District Magistrate (DM) Ajay Shankar Pandey. In Kanpur, all schools were closed today thanks toweather conditions, consistent with an order issued by Kanpur DM Vijay Vishwas Pant.

In Moradabad, all classes for college students till Class 8 will remain closed from December 26 till December 28 thanks towave conditions. The classes for sophistication 9 to 12 will start at 10 am. In Aligarh too, all schools and colleges to stay closed till December 28, reported press agency ANI. In Haryana, schools will remain closed on Thursday in sight of intense cold. State Education Minister Kanwar Pal said that December 26 are going to bea vacationaltogether government and personal schools. He has directed authorities to make sure strict compliance of instructions, the statement said. In Haryana, day temperatures are hovering between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius at the most places, six to nine notches below the traditional.

The minimum has been within the three degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius range, which is three to four notches below the traditional. The weather department has predicted that severe cold will continue over subsequentfew days. The India Meteorological Department said that severe cold amid fog is predicted in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan today. The weather office further said that thundershowers are expected at some places within the plains and low hills of Himachal Pradesh.
